Connecting with WS_Ftp

FTP stands for "file transfer protocol" and it's the process of moving files from your computer to your web server. Generally when you finish creating your HTML file and save them to your hard drive (yourfile.html) you'll use an FTP program to save (or upload) your files to the Internet. Below you'll find a small tutorial on how to use the program.

You have unlimited access via FTP 24 hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.

For free trial and other versions of of WS_FTP please visit http://www.wsftp.com/

Once you install and run the program, you'll need some basic information we sent you after the hosting account was set up.

You'll need:

1) Your domain name : ( ftp.yourwebsite.com")

2) A user ID and Password: (provided in your Welcome letter)

After you have installed WS_FTP

click CREATE SITE

In the Profile Name box, you can put anything here. I would suggest using your website's name.

In the Host/Name Address, insert your domain name after ftp.

example: ftp.yourwebsite.com.

*Note the example shows .com on the end but this should be your domain name. Example: ftp.domainname.net .

For the User ID and Password fields insert the info given to you in your welcome letter.

Note: When you enter your password it will show up as ***, this is for security.
